Common Questions

What is the fuss about energy shots? What are they good for?

An energy shot is a so-called functional beverage. It is a specialized, concentrated kind of energy beverage that contains, typically in a 40-60 ml bottle, an average 80mg dose of the stimulant caffeine which is the central ingredient. An energy shot has the effect of improving mental and cognitive performance and subjective alertness – as do traditional energy drinks. Some energy shots, such as Energy Bomb, also contain vitamins and thus can have variable benefits.

The idea of energy shots started decades ago in Japan as small tonics, served highly concentrated and without carbonation. They appeared around 2003 in the US market in a new product format.

Energy shots are popular among many, especially active, busy and on-the-go people, for whom alertness and feeling energized is of importance in their lives.

What is an Energy Bomb shot?

An Energy Bomb shot is a 60ml beverage which contains ingredients and nutrients that can help you feel energized and alert for hours. It contains a special blend of essential vitamins, fruit juice concentrate, caffeine and glucose and other nutrients – but no taurine.

How much caffeine is in an Energy Bomb shot?

100 mg which is about as much caffeine as in a normal cup of coffee.

There is much discussion about taurine in energy beverages and many regulators do not like to see it mixed in. Does Energy Bomb contain any taurine?

No. Energy Bomb deliberately has no taurine and even though it is a compound which plays a role in normal bodily processes, there is debate und uncertainty surrounding its interaction with (high doses) of caffeine.

When are the best times to take an Energy Bomb shot?

Generally when you are tired or feeling sluggish. This is different from one person to the next and is lifestyle dependent. Examples are:

  • At the start of the day as a way to start off feeling alert and energized.

  • After lunch when many people feel a reduction in energy and slowdown in alertness. Energy Bomb can revitalize you.

  • Before a workout and sports in general when you need that extra bit of push (one shot only is advised prior to heavy bodily activity).

  • In jobs which require special alertness and to be mentally present and safe in what we do.

  • During travel in order to better cope with the stress and hustle and bustle it brings.

  • During your free time whether you are busy with chores, partying, running errands, doing sports or spending time with the family.

Energy Bomb shots are made for busy, active, on-the-go people – or anyone else – who want to be alert and perform at their best. Each person has his or her unique requirements in this regard. While some people may want two Energy Bomb shots per day (recommended to be spaced by several hours), others may be satisfied with just one. If you are new to the world of energy shots and Energy Bomb, we suggest that you start with half a bottle and gradually find your ideal consumption level. Are the balance, dosage of ingredients and their mixings in Energy Bomb shots safe?

The ingredient dosages and ingredients mix of Energy Bomb shots are within very safe limits. One of our fundamental philosophical drivers in how we design our energy shots, is to achieve the best and most healthy possible mix of ingredients while maintaining an energy boost effect as well as tastiness. One key step we took in trying to make Energy Bomb as safe and healthy as possible was to exclude the addition of taurine which, in its combination with caffeine, is a subject of debate amongst some food regulators. We have made sure to be compliant with strict EU and Swiss regulatory requirements and RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) levels.

Have Energy Bomb shots been approved by the Food Regulator?

Energy shots are typically not subjected to an “approval” process per se. Nevertheless, they are regulated in most countries in that their ingredient levels and mixes are assessed and which must typically comply with the provisions set forth by the respective food regulator. Not all countries have the same standards meaning that some countries are more strict about dosage amounts and ingredient mixes than others. To our knowledge Energy Bomb shots are well within the limits set forth by the food regulators in the countries we sell. We take great care to ensure that this is so.

How many Energy Bomb shots can I take per day?

We recommend taking no more than two bottles of Energy Bomb per day with one bottle per day being generally suggested. If you take more than one, be sure to space them several hours apart.

Who should not take Energy Bomb shots?

  • Women who are pregnant or nursing/lactating.

  • Young children.

Further, seek qualified advice before taking an Energy Bomb shot if:

  • You are currently taking any prescription medication.

  • You have been advised by your physician to avoid stimulants or caffeine.

  • You have a medical condition that makes you concerned about taking it.

  • You have a diabetes condition.

  • You are concerned about taking it for any reason.
